Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Spear-heading and responsible for successfully in-licensing new assets in key Therapeutic areas in Asia Pacific Region
  • Scouting/generating leads for new assets/molecules/compounds in line with Therapeutic Area Focus of the Company as well as Country Focus, through various sources, conducting preliminary Screening/evaluation of such assets, Developing/Creating/Co-Owning compelling Business Cases with Marketing and other functional teams, driving cross functional due-diligence, gaining management approval, successfully negotiating key commercial terms and closing the contracts in an effective and timely manner. Be the single point of contact for these projects with potential partners and collaborates with all internal cross-functional stake holders including country BD teams
  • Scouting/Generating New BD opportunities in key therapeutic areas by:
    • Attending various partnering meetings –regional and global
    • Net working with industry contacts/connections- tap existing and develop new
    • Interacting with Country BD teams/General managers
    • Generating leads from Alliance team (in BD & AM teams)
    • Spotting key industry trends in important Therapeutic areas
  • Screening the BD opportunities
    • Should have strategic, commercial mind-set with decent knowledge of therapeutic area knowledge like gastroenterology, respiratory, dermatology etc
    • Have good analytical skills
    • Co-owning/ preparing/crafting business cases to get internal management/Partner discussion
    • Work with Regional and Country BD, Business Intelligence, Marketing teams, finance, Regulatory, Medical Affairs to prepare a compelling business case to get management approval/partner discussion
  • Conducting due-diligence, proposing and negotiating key terms
    • Spearheading due-diligence activities across various functions
    • Drafting/developing with partner Term-sheet
    • Ability to challenge constructively P/L assumptions
  • Finalizing contract
    • Close with legal the agreements
    • Supporting Acquisition opportunities
    • On time to time basis lead regional/country Acquisition project

Requirements:

  • Preferably Post Graduate in Economics, Management, Science with some in-country commercial experience
  • MBA preferred
  • Additional degree/exposure/course in finance, legal will be a plus
  • Project Management expertise will be plus
  • Some exposure to APAC markets essential like ASEAN/China market
  • Total experience in Pharmaceutical/Medical device industry of 3-5 years in BD roles in MNC
  • Achieved successfully mid/large licensing deals in Pharma/Med Tech industry
  • Travel internationally 10-20% per annum
