Job description

​We’re seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join a global financial technology organization building next-generation cloud-native platforms that support mission-critical market infrastructure and real-time trading services. This is a highly influential technical leadership role where you will help shape architecture, engineering standards, and development practices while remaining hands-on in the design and delivery of modern software solutions.

Working within an Agile, cross-functional team, you will play a key role in developing scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications leveraging modern full-stack technologies and cloud-native architectures. You will mentor engineers, drive engineering excellence, and contribute to the long-term evolution of strategic enterprise platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as the senior technical authority within the development team, providing architectural guidance and engineering leadership.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies.

• Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and software design principles across the team.

• Lead technical design discussions and provide oversight for complex software solutions and platform initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and Engineering Leaders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Drive the adoption of cloud-native architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and modern software delivery practices.

• Participate in hands-on development, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support activities.

• Guide teams through estimation, planning, prioritization, and delivery of technical work.

• Champion software quality through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering governance.

• Mentor and coach engineers, supporting technical growth, knowledge sharing, and career development.

• Identify opportunities for platform modernization, architectural improvements, and technical debt reduction.

• Support risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive experience as a Full Stack Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Software Architect in enterprise environments.

• Strong expertise in TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern software engineering practices.

• Advanced front-end development experience with React, Redux, React Query, and modern web application frameworks.

• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and front-end performance optimization.

• Experience building scalable back-end services using TypeScript, C#, Java, or other object-oriented programming languages.

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven application design.

• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, and WebSocket-based services.

• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, data modelling, and application integration patterns.

• Experience with cloud-native development and AWS services such as Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway, AppSync, and related technologies.

• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

• Containerization.

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and enterprise software delivery practices.

• Experience with messaging technologies and pub/sub architectures such as Solace, AMQP, Kafka, or similar platforms.

• Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented design principles, and scalable system architecture.

• Experience working within Agile, cross-functional delivery teams using tools such as Jira.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership capabilities.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with C# and .NET 8+ development.

• Strong understanding of SOLID principles and advanced object-oriented design practices.

• Experience contributing to open-source projects.

• Knowledge of financial markets, trading systems, market infrastructure, or OTC products.

• Experience working on regulatory or compliance-driven technology initiatives.

• Experience delivering low-latency, high-throughput, real-time systems.

• Familiarity with modern cloud security, resilience, and platform engineering practices.
