Job description

​We’re seeking a Principal Web Developer to join a global technology organization delivering enterprise-grade digital solutions that support business-critical operations. This role is ideal for a highly experienced front-end and web development professional who enjoys building modern, scalable, and intuitive user interfaces while collaborating closely with technical and business stakeholders.

As a senior technical contributor, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications, driving engineering best practices, and influencing UI architecture and development standards. You will work within an Agile environment, contributing to both hands-on development and technical leadership across the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and related front-end technologies.

• Build intuitive, scalable, and high-performing user interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences.

• Develop high-quality, maintainable code supported by automated testing, including unit and integration tests.

• Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA Engineers, and Project Managers to deliver business solutions.

• Translate business requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.

• Create wireframes, prototypes, and UI concepts using tools such as Figma.

• Contribute to front-end architecture decisions, development standards, and best practices.

• Develop and maintain reusable UI components and shared application frameworks.

• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, workflows, and deployment guides.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Mentor team members and promote cross-functional knowledge sharing and T-shaped skill development.

• Support CI/CD processes and modern software delivery practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive experience developing modern web applications using React and TypeScript.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design principles.

• Proven experience building scalable, maintainable, and accessible user interfaces.

• Experience developing and maintaining automated unit and integration tests.

• Strong understanding of UX, UI design principles, and web accessibility standards.

• Experience creating wireframes and prototypes using Figma or similar design tools.

• Familiarity with Next.js, server-side rendering, or other modern front-end frameworks is highly desirable.

• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development methodologies.

• Understanding of API integration and contract-first development approaches.

• Experience working with mono-repo tools such as NX or Yarn Workspaces is advantageous.

• Knowledge of cloud-based environments and AWS services is beneficial.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to influence technical direction while remaining hands-on with development.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with enterprise content management platforms such as Drupal.

• Knowledge of PHP, Composer, Twig templates, and custom module development.

• Familiarity with Docker, DevOps practices, and modern deployment workflows.

• Experience with enterprise hosting platforms such as Acquia or Pantheon.

• Understanding of web security, performance optimisation, caching, and scalability best practices.
