Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device Manufacturing)

Job description

Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing state-of-the-art precision mechanisms for microscopy product

• Generate and conceptualize new ideas for innovative solution

• Involve in design and development from prototype to Series production to realize new solution

• Conduct design review and iteration to optimize new solution for cost, process and quality

• Ensure sustaining quality in existing solution

• Interact with supplier and operation for design improvement

• Support design qualification process

• Comply and adhere to the regulatory, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 and company’s EHS requirement

• Participate in lean and continuous improvement initiatives and projects

Requirements

• Masters or good Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in an R&D/manufacturing environment, focusing on product development.

• Experience in manufacturing technologies of metal and plastic materials (aluminium die casting, solid machining, extrusion, plastic injection moulding and rapid prototyping)

• Working knowledge of Mechanical CAD, 3D modelling (preferably in Pro/Engineer or IDEAS), geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack-up calculation is essential

• General understanding of optical system design and precision mechanisms, and project management skills are advantageous

• Prior working exposure with Design, Process, Sourcing  and Quality Functions

• Some Knowledge of FMEA and other Total Quality Management (TQM) tools – ie Kaisen

• Some hands-on experience with data-management system – i.e. PLM system

• Systematic in problem solving approach and creative thinker.

• Bilingual in English and Mandarin to liaise with Mandarin speaking clients

• Minimal travel
