Responsibilities:

  • Reports to VP, JAPAC Market Access
  • Lead and enhance company's vision to improve patient access to high value technologies in cost-constrained healthcare systems in the ANZ/SE Asia/India markets
  • Develop market access strategy aligning with company’s goal and driving improved patient access the business growth
  • Collaborate with country and regional management teams to establish market access and reimbursement strategy, define objectives, and assess results
  • Anticipate internal and external business challenges and reimbursement issues; recommend and drive action plans
  • Monitor and analyze the evolution of market access, health economics and reimbursement, health technology assessment, and related healthcare environment in the ANZ/SEA/India region, with a specific focus in ANZ. Advise management on changes in policy, including advice and action plans to address challenges
  • Develop tools to deliver economic value messages and provide guidance to stakeholders (e.g., physicians, hospitals) in achieving excellent patient outcomes
  • Establish detailed understanding and ability to navigate public and private payers coverage and payment processes, including ongoing monitoring of policy issues and payer outreach strategies designed to secure favorable coverage and payment policies
  • Influence the reimbursement policy environment through effective leadership and collaboration with external agencies and stakeholders
  • Establish effective working relationships with stakeholders by partnering with each country’s Management, Public Affairs, and business units
  • Collaborate with Global Health Economics and Reimbursement colleagues to share evidentiary needs and requirements, develop relevant evidence, and create and adapt health economic models, global value dossiers, and other relevant tools and materials
  • Develop and enhance relationships with local academic and public and private stakeholders to closely monitor the health economic and reimbursement environment in each country, and engage as a leader where needed to enhance opportunities for appropriate patient access to innovative technology
  • Create product value dossiers and related submissions to strongly support the negotiation, bidding, pricing and reimbursement of company's technologies
  • Monitor and proactively enhance local laws, regulations, and policy decisions, third party reports (research centers, government bodies, ministries of health) and analyses that may impact company’s business
  • Initiate, design, and execute regional health economics and reimbursement projects
  • Work closely with Global Health Economics and Reimbursement colleagues on designing and implementing regional health economics programs and studies
  • Assure overall quality, timeline and budgets are met
  • Provide periodic reports and updates to management
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with company quality policies/procedures, government regulations, legal documents and local safety and ethical standards

 

Experiences:

  • PhD or Master's Degree or equivalent in in Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economics, Public Health, or related field and minimum of 10 years of previous related experience or Bachelor's degree in related field and minimum of 12 years of previous related experience
  • Experience in public affairs and government relations, sales and marketing, tendering or pricing, reimbursement or health economics and outcomes research, and regulatory in multinational pharmaceutical or medical device company
  • Proven demonstrated working experience in market access, health economics and outcomes research, and reimbursement policy/government affairs
  • Strong business acumen and expert knowledge of the market
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to understand and respond to multiple internal and external customers’ demands
  • Encourage Open Discussion and Debate
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with intricate planning and strong tactical execution
  • Proven track record of leading thought, plans and actions that result in desired business impact
  • Proven successful project and people management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills; including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
  • Recognized as an expert within sub-function(s) and/or area(s) and broader organization with broad-based expertise across area and related functions
  • Expert knowledge of own area within the organization while contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards
  • Expert understanding of key public and private payer policy infrastructure, medical device payment methodologies, coding and coverage basics, and/or health policy trends
  • Expert understanding of medical device industry, especially with functional responsibility in reimbursement planning, program implementation, and health economics and outcomes research
  • Exceptional business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Represent leadership on programs or organization specific strategic initiatives within multiple areas, interfacing with senior management, and others concerning matters of significance to the area and to the company
  • Advise management on changes in governing practices, including advice on appropriate internal practice changes
  • Contribute to the development of functional or departmental strategy
  • Adhere to all rules and requirements and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
