Director of Operations Strategy & Transformation (Asset Management)

Job description

​We are exclusively partnering with a leading global investment organisation to appoint a Director of Operations Strategy & Transformation.

This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, Head of Operations, with a mandate to drive strategic change, governance, and operational excellence across Investment Services.

This role is ideal for senior leaders from asset management, sovereign wealth funds, private equity, or institutional investment environments, who bring deep domain knowledge of investment operations, fund structures, and the end-to-end investment lifecycle.

You will lead critical functions spanning Change Management, Vendor Management, and Business Management, acting as the strategic front gate between Operations, Investment teams, and external partners.

Your mandate will be to define the target operating model, build and execute the multi-year transformation roadmap, drive cost and resource optimisation, and strengthen governance, vendor oversight, and operational resilience.

This is a high-impact, enterprise-facing leadership role, requiring strong strategic judgement, execution rigour, and credibility with senior stakeholders.

Change & Control Leadership

• Own and govern all medium-to-large scale change initiatives impacting Investment Services.

• Act as the strategic interface between Investment, Operations, Technology and external partners.

• Lead portfolio prioritisation across resources, budgets, timelines, and business value.

• Drive transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and sustainability of operations.

Vendor Management & Governance

• Lead strategic oversight of all operations vendors, including commercial negotiations, performance management, service escalation, and governance.

• Drive vendor optimisation, cost efficiency, service quality and strategic partnerships.

• Ensure strong institutional relationships and alignment of vendor strategy with business objectives.

Business Management & Operating Model

• Own budgeting, workforce planning, organisational design, and training strategy for Investment Services.

• Drive operating model transformation, including resource strategy, outsourcing, and technology enablement.

• Establish and manage MI, KPIs, dashboards, and governance cadence to ensure performance transparency and execution discipline.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 15+ years’ experience within asset management, sovereign wealth funds, private equity, alternatives, or institutional investment environments.

• Deep exposure to Investment Operations, Change Management, and Control functions.

• Strong understanding of: Investment lifecycle, Fund structures & SPVs, Portfolio & fund reporting, Front-to-back operating models

• Strong financial acumen, budget ownership and cost governance experience.

• Proven transformation leadership with ability to translate strategy into execution.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

• Strong governance, risk and control mindset.

• Digitally savvy, with a continuous process improvement and automation orientation.
