BI Engineering Consultant, Tech industry

Job description

​Looking for a BI engineer to automate data visualisation platform solutions, create APIs to build data pipeline and to create custom UIs for end users in an enterprise working environment.

The BI engineering consultant will work closely with the application, network and hardware infrastructure stakeholders, project managers, technical teams like database engineers and source system data owners to automate BI solutions to sustain analytics and AI initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with the business and BI team to establish to automate BI implementation and mundane operations activities.

• Create APIs to integrate BI tools with external data sources and make it as a re-usable template.

• Develop data wrangling (reshaping, aggerating, joining disparate sources), small scale ETL, building custom visualization in scripting languages such as Python, R and JavaScript etc.

• Identify Potential BI tools limitations and explore alternative ways to overcome through APIs/custom CLIs.

• Establish a framework to automate BI project migrations to different environments.

• Work in collaboration with other BI practice teams to solve critical business problems pertaining to customization.

• Collaborate closely with hardware and infrastructure stakeholders to deploy solutions in enterprise environments such as data centres or cloud providers

• Apply security and network design best practices for data analytics solutions to minimise the risk of data exposure

• Integrate data analytics platforms to peripheral applications for monitoring, authentication, alert management and log management etc

• Bring your experience and ideas to effective and innovative engineering, such as automation of routine monitoring and maintenance tasks

• Work in interdisciplinary teams that combine technical, business and data science competencies that deliver work in waterfall or agile software development lifecycle methodologies

• The range of accountability, responsibility and autonomy will depend on your experience and seniority, including:

• Contributing to our internal networks and special interest groups

• Mentoring to upskill peers and juniors

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong experience in Python, R, JavaScript, NodeJS and JSON. Full stack experience is an added advantage         

• Prior experience in implementing APIs and automation for data pipelines and product customization.

• Experience in cloud platforms and various integration services.

• Open mindset to learn new BI tools and technologies

• Good critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

• Must Have:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in any of two or more programming languages such as Python, R, JavaScript, NodeJS and JSON.

• Strong experience in command line and shell scripting

• Strong knowledge on SQL and VBScript

• Good understanding on BI software architecture and workflows

• Hands on knowledge on cloud technologies like AWS/ Azure/ Google Cloud platform will be preferred.

• Good experience in windows and Linux OS

• Experience in any of BI tools such as Tableau/ Power BI/ Qlik/ MicroStrategy would be an added advantage

• Possess good communications skills to understand our customers' core business objectives and implement data visualisation solutions

• Service-delivery mindset to propose automation and preventive maintenance solutions

• Good critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer science or equivalent

• Nice to have:

• Experience in BI administration and implementation

• Experience in working as business analyst in BI projects

• Experience in front end/full stack development
