DevOps Lead (Terraform, Development Background)

Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Lead with a strong development background to lead our client's DevOps initiatives and drive automation, scalability, and reliability across our cloud and on-premise platforms. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, while enabling CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices to support high-velocity application delivery.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with team guidance, ideal for someone who has evolved from application development into DevOps and enjoys bridging the gap between developers and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a DevOps engineering team, promoting best practices in automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code.

• Design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure using Terraform.

• Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate DevOps practices throughout the SDLC.

• Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline code deployment, testing, and release processes.

• Drive automation initiatives for infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, logging, and configuration management.

• Ensure security, compliance, and governance are embedded into DevOps workflows.

• Monitor system health, availability, and performance, proactively addressing reliability issues.

• Advocate and implement cloud-native solutions and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Contribute to the technology roadmap, providing recommendations on tools, processes, and platforms to improve scalability and efficiency.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 8+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years in DevOps and a solid background in software/application development.

• Proven experience as a DevOps Lead or Senior DevOps Engineer in large-scale environments.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise with Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps).

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Proficiency in scripting and development languages (Python, Go, Java, or similar).

• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

• Solid understanding of networking, system administration (Linux/Unix), and cloud security principles.
